Corporate History and Philosophy

Foundation of the firm G.E.O.S. Freiberg Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH took place on May 01, 1990, when parts of the predecessor company VEB Geologische Forschung und Erkundung (GFE Freiberg) got privatised. Within the same year the firm was purchased by the Philipp Holzmann construction group. In 2002 G.E.O.S. was bought by the managing director and a company from Berlin.

We can trace back our tradition of performing geological and mining related services to the first Saxon Geological Survey, which, as the forerunner of GFE Freiberg, had been founded in 1872. Our activities are still focussed on geological questions of the minerals and their exploitation, completed by geotechnical services.

G.E.O.S. is characterised today by a broad corporate business profile as well as inter-disciplinary projects and teamwork on a high professional level. We possess longstanding tradition and can base on experienced employees and experts in a broad range of different fields. Our special advantage consists in the fact that we are able to provide complete service packages for the benefit of our clients. Close co-operation with other specialised companies as well as universities guarantee efficiency and permanent know how renewal.

On behalf of our clients G.E.O.S. works worldwide today. Subsidiaries represent us in different countries. We have focussed on being close to our clients and work with flexibility. Following the requirements of the market steadily new professional fields get opened up, like for example utilisation of geothermal potentials for energy supply or application of microbiological technologies for water treatment and recovery of valuable substances.
