SULFAMOS research project launched

Kick-off meeting for the joint project "Sulphate Removal using Forward Osmosis and Hollow Fibre Immersion Modules" - G.E.O.S. coordinates the project

The joint project "SULFAMOS" between the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and G.E.O.S. was launched with an online kick-off meeting in May 2021. As part of the BMBF programme "Water Research and Water Innovations for Sustainability - Wasser:N", the five project partners are working with G.E.O.S. to develop a process for sulphate removal through forward osmosis and test it in practical applications.

G.E.O.S. is working with the following partners to realise the project objectives:

  • fluvicon Industries GmbH
  • MionTec GmbH
  • HTW Dresden, Department of Aquatic Science
  • Fraunhofer Society, Institute for Interfacial Engineering and Bioprocess Engineering
  • Municipal Water/Wastewater Association Bornaer Land

By autumn 2023, the project partners want to set up a demonstration plant and operate it together at selected pilot sites.

The project, which is part of the networking and transfer project "WavE Water Technologies: Re-use" project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and supervised by the project management organisation Karlsruhe (funding reference 02WV1573A).
