Trassenplanung für den Abschnitt Landkabeltrasse im Projekt NordLink

The NordLink project is the first transnational 1,400 MW high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission link from southern Norway to Germany (Schleswig-Holstein) with a route length of approx. 623 kilometres. NordLink is scheduled to go into operation in autumn 2020 and is one of the most important projects in the European energy sector.

NordLink will enable the exchange of renewable energies, especially hydropower from Norway and wind power from Germany. Offshore, 516 kilometres of submarine cable and onshore 53 kilometres of overhead line will be laid in Norway and 54 kilometres of underground cable in Germany (Büsum to Wilster).

G.E.O.S. was commissioned with the route planning for the land cable for this project. G.E.O.S.'s tasks include the following:

  • Preparation of the application documents for plan amendment procedures, including adaptation/modification of the route
  • Preparation, implementation and monitoring of plan amendment procedures in coordination with the client
  • Obtaining the opinions in the case of insignificant plan amendments or responding to the opinions and objections (public agencies, nature conservation organisations, private parties, etc.) as part of the consultation process
  • Coordination between the client, the authorities involved and other specialised parties on the responses
  • Preparation and participation in meetings
  • Planning adjustments and coordinating those with the technical stakeholders during the planning process
