Soil maps of the Free State of Saxony

The pedological map series BK50 (1:50 000) of the Free State of Saxony forms the basis for all pedological analyses, both internally at the State Office for the Environment, Agriculture and Geology (LfULG) and for external enquiries.

G.E.O.S. updated the general legend for the BK50, which contains around 1,150 guiding profiles, as part of several sub-projects using existing analysis results for the guiding profiles. In addition, incorrect geometries were corrected using GIS and the area information of the BK50 shape (attribute table) was adapted. Finally, selected soil units in the settlement area were qualified and current information on the tipping soils of the post-mining landscape of lignite mining was integrated into the new BK50.
